Citizen’s Filibuster - Take Back the Government for Education
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Citizen’s Filibuster, during legislative Special Session from 04-17-2006 through 04-18-2006.
This filibuster is being put on by David Van Os, candidate for Texas Attorney General. Van Os - and other Democratic candidates - will filibuster about the Texas Educational System, especially the fact that so little money is being put towards education, and how we need to take charge, stand up, and guarantee our children an educational future. I urge all of you that are frustrated with the Texas educational system to show up on the State Capitol grounds and help make the Citizen’s
voice heard. The release and information for this, is below…
Citizen’s Filibuster
DURING SPECIAL SESSION 04-17-2006 THRU 04-18-2006
HOPE YOU CAN JOIN US!
We all have children, grand children, nephews or nieces attending schools in Texas and most of us are frustrated with the chronic lack of adequate funding for our children and inadequate pay for competent teachers while our taxpayer money is squandered on personal freeways and expensive vacations by Republican politicians.
Why should we settle for our Great State of Texas, which is rich in natural resources and revenue, being close to last place in education. Why should struggling low- to middle-income homeowners bear the brunt of school funding responsibility through run-away taxation of the OVER-INFLATED VALUATION of our homes, while rich homeowners and multi-million dollar corporations are given a break?
I urge all responsible, but frustrated citizens to show up in great force and flood the State Capitol grounds with the loudest voice possible, supporting the tireless effort of our friend and next Texas Attorney General, David Van Os, while at the same time, demanding that the educational future of our children be adequately-funded, at long last. Make plans to join us next Monday starting at noon, in Austin, Texas.
Let this unprecedented rally serve notice to the present republican administration that we will come out in record numbers in the November general election to TAKE TEXAS BACK - WHERE IT BELONGS - WITH WORKING PEOPLE.
We must refuse to be dictated to by a few millionaire Republicans such as Craddick, who is acting like a spoiled brat. WE, AND ONLY WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN, BY BEING HEARD - BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, BY VOTING. OUR CHILDREN AND OUR SENIORS DESERVE NO LESS. YA BASTA! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! A EL QUE NO HABLA, NI DIOS LO ESCUCHA (IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK UP, NOT EVEN GOD CAN HEAR YOU).
